not pouty mouth

Having a pouty mouth doesn't mean Makayla isn't happy. That's just how her mouth is when she's not smiling. Or something's brewing in her diaper...

mak daddy time

No pics in this post, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Today Makayla and Daddy went to Bellevue Square to do some window shopping. These days, Mak usually gets excited to go out. She's pretty independent when walking around the mall. Most of the time she doesn't want you to hold her hand. This time wasn't too different, but sometimes she'll just raise up her hand to grab my hand, and it makes you feel "awww..."

Another thing that Mak likes to do now is walking up and down stairs. Not crawling, walking. And yes, with the help of us holding her hands. But she'll take steps up stairs like she's all grown up. When we reached some stairs at Belle' Square, Mak really wanted to go up them to the second floor. She used all her weight to pull me to the stairs. As we were going up, a lady said, "That's a lot of steps for a little girl!"

When we walked pass William Sonoma, Mak stopped, looked through the entrance, and then pulled me into the store! We had been in there before, so I think she might remember all the shiny pots and pans. This time she walked to the coffee maker section and turned all the knobs and pushed all the buttons.

Mak is also starting to discover elevators, so I decided to take it back down to the first floor. I pushed the button and the door opened, but when we went in it said, "going up." No one was inside, so I thought, oh well, it will change to go down. But it didn't. So, we made an unplanned trip to the third floor, Kid's Cove. Enter into a bustling crowd of hyper kids doing flips off of the tops of things, with parents starring into their iPhones. This was the first time that I let Mak play there. We've checked it out before, but usually it's packed with kids and I was afraid she'd get trampled. This time there were less kids, and pretty much Mak decided to go in to play whether I wanted her or not. At first, Mak was hesitant and clutching onto my hand, but she soon warmed up and started to have a blast! Of course all the bigger kids would run circles around her, but she was still enjoying herself.

Then we ended our time with lunch at the greek place next to Nordstrom. Coincidentally, our neighbor was also having lunch there too. They were surprised to see Mak already so big.

Mak fell asleep on the 5 minute ride back home. Life is hard...

exhausted

Today was a busy day. First we played at home, which consisted of reading half-way through about three books; watched some Sesame Street; and ate food. Then we went to the bank to do bank stuff, got ga$$$$, and then went to Seattle to surprise mommy at work. By now, Mak had fallen asleep in the car. When we went into mommy's office Mak woke up. So at this point, she has only had a one hour nap, and at no point later in the day does she have any other nap. Long story short, we do a bunch of other things and this is how we end the day:

Initially, Heidi was hoping that Mak would wake up after carrying her out of her car seat, since she needed a bath after going everywhere (walking, touching, eating) today. But she didn't wake up. She needed at least a diaper and clothes change, and she stayed asleep through that. When putting her PJs on, Mak rolled onto her stomach, still sound asleep. You can see that only one leg is clothed in the pic. So we just left her there like that...just for a couple minutes so I could take some pics. Short story long, we got her PJs on and she stayed asleep through it all. The last time something like this happened was the day of her one-month-old party where she slept through a bath and the whole party. That one tops this time for sure.

walka walka

This was from last week when the weather was nice, so we (Mak, Dad, and Uncle Jeremy) took a walk around the condo development...

When we got to some stairs, Mak just had to walk up them like a grown up, but with a little help. We did this about 3 times, up and down, until I was too tired to continue. Then we went home and had a yummy strawberry snack...

PS. I'm sure you notice the rice spatula. For some reason she really wanted to keep holding that when we went outside. If we tried to take it away, she would give us an earful.
