meeting a new friend

Makayla had her first playdate (at home) today and met a new friend named Zoi!

We first enjoyed a little healthy snack of bananas, grapes, Japanese rice crackers and Zoi introduced Mak to raisins! (it was harder than anything she's had before so Mak didn't like it as much...yeah, hard to believe that there's actually something she doesn't like to eat) Then we headed over to the living room to play. It took a little while for the girls to warm up to each other...they didn't even have eye contact until 15 min after they first met. Well, the next hour or two consisted of the two girls playing in the same place, occasionally with the same toys but not really playing with each other...until a few minutes before Zoi was about to leave...

Susan (Zoi's mom) and I (Heidi) decided to take some photos of them. It was nearly impossible to keep them close enough to fit in the frame, facing the same direction, smiling (or at least not crying). Finally, we put them behind the keyboard...and the two seemed to have finally found a common interest to share.

Mak & Zoi had a good time making music and dancing together! Thanks for coming over and playing with us, Zoi and Susan! Can't wait to play with you again soon!

taking a stroll

First time walking on pavement with shoes!

gotta start them young

Last Wednesday was grandma's birthday so we all celebrated at Olive Garden (more pics on another post). Afterwards, we visited grandpa's Kumon Math & Reading Center. Mak loved playing with the number board (in her own way). She loved taking out all the pieces and putting them back in the box...over and over... Then she moved onto reading...guess it's never too early to start!

shopping

It's been a while since I've (Abe) written on the blog. So here are a couple pics and a video to go along with it.

Mak is now walking a lot more. We were at Fred Meyer after dinner on a Friday night, and this was the longest she had walked while wearing shoes (or boots wit da fur). Normally she's indoors walking barefoot. Whenever she has shoes on, Mak usually has a harder time walking. But not this time!

Mommy: "Oh how cute!"

Mak: "Eat my dust, old lady!"

dancing with maracas

What do maracas, a leather couch and Bible songs have in common? Mak likes to shake/beat/dance to all of the above all at the same time.

play eating...nom nom nom

We've already shared that Makayla's favorite activity is eating. Well, her 2nd favorite could very well be pretend eating. No matter what toy she has in her hands, any object that takes the shape of a bowl, plate, or a cup could potentially contain pretend food. How can we tell? Mak pretends to pick it up and put it in her mouth as seen in this video (00:17). And just like real food, she's always good about sharing. Here she shares her imaginary snacks with gung gung (grandpa) and tai po (great grandma). Mak loves watching other people devour her pretend food.
